Whether you're a RAGBRAI alum or fresh new face, packing for the ride is always a headache. We hope to help by giving you some tips, tricks and a simple checklist so you dont get stuck wearing the same pair of Lycra before laundry day!
Tips & Tricks:
- Zip locks will be your best friends! Hauling around a giant bag is never any fun especially when loading a team bus full of gear. When packing your clothes be sure to squeeze out as much air as possible then sealing the bag to cut it's size down by half! While packing your outfits, kits, or costumes consider separating each set in its own zip lock to avoid digging in your bags last minute for the perfect combo.
- Zip locks can also be utilized to keep your phone and other electronics dry in case of inclement weather or crazy kids with hoses.
- You wont need to bring your giant bottle of shampoo and body wash, go travel size and place these in a zip lock to avoid spills.
- If you plan to dry your towel overnight, the morning dew might have other plans. Going with a thin beach towel will help you avoid a musty smell build up.
- Riding all day long takes it toll on the nether regions, it is HIGHLY recommend you grab a tube of Chamois Butt'r to help cut down on chaffing.
- Restrooms and restroom supplies might not always be readily available so be sure to carry some extra TP in your camping bag (Zip locked) and some Dude Wipes for emergencies.
- You will be sun burned! Bring a bottle of aloe or hydrating lotion to help fight the inevitable peeling that will follow.
- Laundry day is usually mid week so be sure to keep an eye out for a laundry mat on the way into town!
